Current Research Themes My research focuses on works written in Japanese or Chinese by Western missionaries to East Asia from the sixteenth through today in the twenty-first century. These works not only reflect the contributions of these missionaries to the cultures of East Asia, they are also excellent examples of the multicultural and multilingual output of the missionaries.
